Fixed wing pilots

Zero – FRTOL

Includes approximately 8 hours tuition, practice written exam, CAA written examination, practice practical exam, CAA practical examination.

Course duration: Two days

Including approximately 4 hours tuition, RT knowledge quiz, practice practical examination, CAA practical examination.

RT Induction evening

If you are new to general aviation and confused by all this radio chatter, come along for an evening introduction to the basic radiotelephony (RT) principles involved. You will be given instruction on terminology used and examples of the scenarios you may face in the early stages of your pilot training. You can also expect an insight into what is expected from you in the latter parts of your training. A must for all beginners!

Just the exams please!

The majority of candidates prefer to take a practice practical RT exam and depending on how this goes, sit the CAA practical exam. This drastically increases your chances of passing first time, however, if you are just after the CAA test, just let us know!

Microlight / Glider pilots

Planetalk are committed to providing specialist radiotelephony (RT) courses and RT training for pilots in the air sport arena. Engineers

Ground Engineers who are required to operate the radio in order to speak to air traffic control (ATC) for clearances, radio checks etc, can attend a basic course, subject to company requirements. Planespeak can issue a certificate of competency to show that the person has attended an RT course and has met a required standard. There are also options to achieve a full UK CAA Flight Radiotelephony licence, VHF and HF.

CAA Air Ground Communication Service Operators - Certificate of competence

In order to operate the ground radio and offer an Air Ground Communication Service to pilots using the call sign ‘Radio,’ you must obtain a certificate of competence from the CAA. This is also a pre requisite for the FISO licence.

Zero – Certificate of Competence

Including approximately 5 hours tuition, visit to the local ATS unit, CAA written examination, CAA practical examination.
